THE HISTORICAL CONTEXT:
To understand America’s role in this war we will have to understand the history of rivalry between Russia and America. The rivalry between Russia and America has a long and complex history that can be traced back to the early 20th century. Here is a brief overview of the key events and periods that have shaped this rivalry:
- World War II and the Cold War (1945-1991): Following World War II, the United States and the Soviet Union emerged as two superpowers with opposing ideologies. The Soviet Union, led by Russia, embraced communism, while the United States championed capitalism and democracy. This ideological divide led to a series of conflicts and proxy wars between the two powers, including the Korean War and the Vietnam War. The Cold War was characterized by a nuclear arms race, space race, and intense competition for global influence.
- Cuban Missile Crisis (1962): The Cuban Missile Crisis was a major confrontation between the United States and the Soviet Union when the latter placed nuclear missiles in Cuba. The crisis brought the world to the brink of nuclear war, and tensions between the two countries reached an all-time high. The crisis was eventually resolved through diplomatic negotiations.
- Détente and Arms Control (1970s): In the 1970s, both the United States and the Soviet Union sought to ease tensions through a period known as détente. This led to arms control agreements such as the Strategic Arms Limitation Talks (SALT) and the Anti-Ballistic Missile (ABM) Treaty. These agreements aimed to reduce the risk of nuclear war and stabilize the relationship between the two countries.
- Collapse of the Soviet Union (1991): The Soviet Union dissolved in 1991, marking the end of the Cold War. This event had a profound impact on the rivalry between Russia and America. The United States emerged as the sole superpower, while Russia underwent significant political and economic transformations.
- Post-Cold War Era: After the collapse of the Soviet Union, Russia experienced a period of internal turmoil and economic challenges. The United States, on the other hand, enjoyed a position of global dominance. However, there were instances of tension between the two countries, such as the NATO expansion into Eastern Europe and the 1999 NATO intervention in Kosovo.
- Ukraine Crisis (2014-present): The Ukraine Crisis reignited tensions between Russia and America in recent years. Russia’s annexation of Crimea and its support for separatist movements in eastern Ukraine led to condemnation from the United States and other Western countries. The conflict has resulted in sanctions against Russia and a deterioration in relations between the two nations.
- Cyber security and Disinformation: In recent years, both Russia and the United States have accused each other of cyber attacks, interference in elections, and disinformation campaigns. These issues have further strained the relationship between the two countries and raised concerns about national security.
These all points prove that Russia and America have very old rivalry and they don’t leave any chance to sabotage each other. When Russia Invaded Ukraine, America saw a great opportunity to destroy Russian economy, military etc, by funding Ukraine and isolating America from every group in World Stage.
BUSINESS FOR AMERICA , DEATH FOR UKRAINE AND RUSSIA
America has announced a package of 50 billion dollars for Ukraine, of which most of the money will go in buying weapons for Ukraine soldiers. And we all know US defense companies will get the biggest chunk of this money.
Rocket maker Aerojet Rocketdyne (AJRD) is up more than 50%, while Lockheed Martin (LMT) stock has climbed 23% since the invasion began.
Information Warfare and Propaganda:
America has deployed whole Hollywood in making various Documentaries, films etc,. to show Russia a villain for mankind and show Volodymyr Zelenskyy as the hero of this war. Many Russian media houses have been banned by America which shows the side of Russia. By banning these media houses and newspapers world is not getting any prospective and views of Russian side on this war. If America says that they support freedom of speech then why they are banning Russian media houses and channels. This clearly shows the dual nature of America and European countries.
Geopolitical Interests:
Involvement in NATO Expansion:
The expansion of NATO into Eastern Europe has also played a role in escalating tensions between the United States and Russia. The U.S. has actively supported the accession of countries such as Poland, Romania, and the Baltic states to NATO, which Russia perceives as a direct threat to its security. This expansion has fueled the perception of encirclement and led to an increase in military build-up along Russia’s borders.
Conclusion:
While it would be overly simplistic to label America as the main culprit in the Russia-Ukraine conflict, its involvement and actions have undoubtedly influenced the course of events. The United States’ support for Ukraine, NATO expansion, and its pursuit of geopolitical interests in the region have contributed to the escalation of tensions between Russia and Ukraine. However, it is important to recognize that multiple factors and actors have shaped this complex conflict, and any solution must involve dialogue, diplomacy, and a comprehensive understanding of the interests and concerns of all parties involved.
