Our captain cool was born on 7 july 1981 in Ranchi, Bihar( now jharkhand), India. His father was a pump operator who used to see the water supply operations. You will be shocked to know that Mahi was a soccer lover in his school days and he used to do goalkeeping for his school football team. Unlike Dhoni, his uncle and cousins spell their surname “Dhauni”. Previously Dhoni was the goalkeeper for his DAV Jawahar Vidya Mandir school’s football team, but after seeing his goalkeeping skills, coach Keshav Ranjan Banerjee, one who inspired Dhoni to be a cricketer, picked him to play cricket for his school team.

As every middle class parents of India have a dream that there children should work in government department , his parents also wanted him to study hard and become an officer in government department but Mahi had totally different plans.

His love for cricket became very deep as he started to play for his school team.

Dhoni’s struggle for playing cricket can make you emotional. He was completely mad about cricket and to just give an example of his dedication I would like to present an incident to you. When Dhoni was in 10 standard, during his final exams OFFICE LEAGUE started. So to play in this league, first he used to give the exam in the morning and in evening he used to go to play cricket.
He was not able to make his place in Under 19 world cup team (1999) which gave him a major blow and he started working hard more and more.
After reading about his talent Mr. AK Ganguly (then manger of south eastern railway) offered him job of TC ( Ticket collector) and after this Dhoni started to play for Railways.
But after seeing several rejections and not getting any opportunity he took a risk and left the job of TC which turned out to be the one of the best decisions of his life.

And Then Success

After seeing so many struggles and hardships of life an opportunity came to him when he was selected for the India A team. He grabbed this opportunity from both ends and played fantastic innings.
So at the age of 24 he was selected for team India .On 23 December 2004 he played his first match against Bangladesh. He made his first century against Pakistan in vizag (148 runs).  After this Dhoni never looked back became one of the best batsman of that time.
In 2007 he was selected as the captain of Indian cricket team for the T-20 world cup and after this Dhoni made history……
